I Wonder.....
I wonder if the world is really billions and billions of years old, or only 8,000-10,000? God could have created it already old, I suppose.
I wonder what the pilgrims ate for snacks? I feel fortunate to live in America. I stand in deep wonder at old things. Real old things,not things made up to look old. I wonder what a Sasquatch does for fun, and what could possibly possess a man to climb a mountain?
I wonder what angels really look like? I wonder if in Bible times they had outhouses or what? Must have gotten pretty ripe. I wonder why most secretaries are women? Maybe it's an ego thing for guys? (Or maybe we just can't type that fast!)
I wonder why it's hard for me to feel comfortable returning something to a store? I wonder why some big companies still use shiny scotch tape? I wonder what the queen reads on the throne? I wonder if lightning really does go from the ground up? I wonder why TBN exists? Do they really think they represent God in a good way?
I wonder how tall Goliath really was? I mean, it's not like we have pictures. I wonder why many people aren't as excited about the old Disney movie 'The Parent Trap' as I am? (truly one of the best movies ever made). I wonder if there really IS an ozone layer, and if the greenhouse effect is really real? I wonder what it was like to be in a submarine during W.W.II? Must have been really frightening.
I wonder if my mom and dad felt pain when they died? I wonder if they are still asleep or if they're in Heaven with mom cooking Sunday roast beef dinners for Jesus and John and Paul and Abraham, and dad fixing Noah's outboard motor?
I wonder if they will ever stop making Tab? I wonder who 'they' are? I wonder - if 2 people pray at the same time for different things (i.e. please God - make it sunny today)(please God - I need rain today) - I wonder how God decides?
I wonder if I quit my job and gave it my best shot - if I could make it as a farmer today? I wonder why the government makes it so hard on small farmers? And I wonder whose idea it was for CRP folks to plant stuff around Coulee that doesn't belong here?
I wonder how a gaggle of geese decide who leads when they fly in a 'V' formation? I wonder how much cash Warren Buffett has in his wallet at any given time? I wonder who would want to sweat to the 'Oldies" with Richard Simmons?
I wonder if real hillbillies still live in the hills of Kentucky and West Virginia and Tennessee and make moonshine and sit on the porch and play the fiddle and guitar? I wonder what ever happened to thank you notes - or make homemade eggnog?
I wonder if Lowly Worm’s ancestors came over on Noah’s Ark?. I wonder why car-makers don’t bring back curb feelers? I wonder who in congress thought lawn darts posed enough of a threat to humanity that they needed to outlaw them? You know the old saying - 'when lawn darts are outlawed, only outlaws will have lawn darts.'
(I should tell you that I have one of the last set of lawn darts ever made. My family feels so much safer and protected because if I meet a burglar in the hallway in the middle of the night, I can say to him, "warning - I have lawn darts and know how to use them!")
I wonder about the baseball strike, and whose side I should be on? Baseball is kind of a rich man's toy I guess- and we're all going along for the ride! I wonder why prisoners think a 'hunger strike' is going to change anything? It's like - 'ok pal, your choice. Where should we ship your body after you starve to death, because we're not going to hand feed you!'
I wonder how I feel today? I wonder if I'll have time to get everything done? I wonder why one coat paint doesn't always cover in one coat? Is it me - or the paint? I wonder why it costs a family so much to adopt a child. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
So many questions. So little time.
